Now Charles realizes these reports were false.
Charles Erickson's - latest Affidavit
Parts 12-18
Charles started changing his story from what he told police the day of his arrest once he was given discovery from the prosecutor. He changed many of the details of his original statements such as the direction he departed the crime scene.
Charles has now been shown these reports and now realizes these police report were false and had misled him. The police and or the prosecutor conjured up these false police reports to help convince Charles to plea against Ryan.
Charles changed the route he said he took back to the Night Club.
This map shows what Charles told police the day he was arrested (map)
The next map shows that Charles revised his story after he was given the discovery by Prosecutor Crane and made his Plea October 1, 2004. This is information he did not have until the police gave him the police reports, which are a part of discovery. If Charles had not been given these police reports... specifically" Police Report 42", Charles would have had no idea which way the track led away from the crime scene.
(Second map)
Police Report 42 references the Dog Tracking from the crime scene (report 42)
Erickson did however maintain his story to the court that he and Ryan returned to the night club after 2:45am, stating the club was still open, that the bouncer that had let them in originally was still there at 2:45am, people were dancing and drinking and the music was loud.
Charles testified that they could not leave because there was a police officer in the parking lot and that finally after 1-2 hours the bar closed around 3-4am. According to Charles this police officer was still there as the patrons departed the bar.

It is interesting to note that no police officer was found having been at the nightclub after the bar closed and after everyone left (1:30am) by the police or the prosecutor. In fact we have found over twelve kids, under 21 at the time of the crime, that were at the club that night and are prepared to testify to the fact that the bar was closed at 1:30am.
Besides, if a police officer was actually there wouldn't he have issued a summons to the bar for being open after 1:30am... never mind all the under-age drinkers leaving between 3-4 am and driving off in their cars? Talk about a dream.
